Description

Evaluation trial trenching by Network Archaeology in August 2011 did not reveal evidence of Montcrieff's Cottage (other than the very truncated remains of a possible outbuilding), but indicated activity associated with demolition and re-building on the site in the 19th and 20th centuries. The pottery recovered indicated that domestic activity has been taking place in or around the site since the 16th century. See report for detail (B1).
