A late medieval and early post-medieval formal garden within a designed landscape (deer) park is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located south of the site of Old Ascott House and centred at SP 88224 21834, the garden comprises two ornate flower beds, the north one about 112 metres long and 30 metres wide; the south one is less well defined but about 57 metres long and 30 metres wide. Both beds are divided longitudinally to the W and E, whilst the centre section is divided by four shallow ditches in alternating arcs from either side in a geometric yet sinuous effect. To the SE of these is a large ornamental pond. There are also mounds, ditches, banks and pits of uncertain function. On aerial photographs taken in 2019 and recent remote sensing data, these features survive as earthworks (17-24).

Alien Cell of Benedictine Monks founded at Wing before 1085. Dependant upon St Nicholas, Angers, it was dissolved 1416 and granted to the priory of St Mary de Pre, St Albans (B28).
Tanner says 'Benedictine Monks settled at a Hamlet called Ascot', and both Gough and Ouvery locate the priory to the site of the old Ascott House at SP 88752249 (B29).
