Description

A stone memorial taking the form of a crucifix set in a small shrine. Height 3.04m and in good condtion. Commemorates 6 local people who were killed in action during WW1 (B1).

Listed Grade II. First World War memorial. Dedicated 1920. The stone memorial, overall c2.5m high, comprises a figure of Christ crucified set within a pointed, gothic, alcove. That stands on a stone plinth which carries a plaque inscribed GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS,/ THAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS./ (6 names). The plinth stands on a small, three-stepped base (B3).
