Description

A gothic cross with ocatagonal column and plinth on a three stepped base constructed of Mansfield stone. The memorial is 6.9 m high and in good condition. It was dedicated by the Bishop Suffragan of Buckingham on 7th November 1920. Commemorates the dead of WWI, WWII, the Malayan Emergency and the Falklands Conflict (B1).

Grade II. First World War memorial, unveiled on 7 November 1920, with later additions for the Second World War, Malayan Emergency and Falklands Conflict. Reasons for Designation: Historic interest - as an eloquent witness to the tragic impact of world events on this community, and the sacrifices it has made in the conflicts of the C20; Design - as a simple yet poignant Gothic cross; Group value - with a number of listed buildings, including the Church of St Laurence, listed at Grade II+ (B4).
