Description

The award-winning 1966 Span development of Cedar Chase has been included in the conservation area because of the high quality of its design and the way it blends in with the landscape. Built on the site of Taplow Hill House, the monopitched roof design of the 24 houses respects the hillside setting as it slopes to the south. Part of the old garden walls have been retained and the grounds have lush planting. The timber cladding reflects the rural character. The beige brick , which is not within the traditional local palette, was controversial when the development was first built but has weathered nicely and appears to assume different shades as the light changes. The buildings are significant/building of note within the conservation area of Taplow (B1).
