Description

This monument comprises four components. These are, the recreation ground, gate posts, including Greek urns on top, the gates and bronze plaques. The gateposts are constructed with stone and associated Greek urns are made of terracotta. The gates are made of teak and there are memorial inscriptions on the bronze plaques. These commemorate the 23 people who died in WW1 and the 7 in WW2. The recreation ground and associated components were designed by Mr Clough Williams-Ellis, architect and constructed by Messrs Newman and Harper, builders. The memorial was unveiled by the Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire and opened by Lady Smyth on 12 November, 1922 (B1).
