Description

Granite obelisk 3.12m high located at the corner of High Street and New Street. On a simple square base set in a hedged enclosure. Commemorates local war dead who served during WW1 and WW2 (B1).
Photograph of the memorial together with the names and information on those who died in WW1 (B2).
Listed Grade II. First World War memorial, 1922, with later additions for the Second World War. Cheddington War Memorial, situated on The Green, is listed at Grade II for the following principal reasons: - Historic Interest: as an eloquent witness to the tragic impact of world events on the local community, and the sacrifice it made in the C20; - Architectural interest: a well-proportioned Classical obelisk.
