Description

Very tall, thin obelisk constructed of Portland stone within a small ornamental garden. Commemorates those who died serving in WW1 and WW2. In good condition (B1).

Grade II. First World War memorial, with later additions for the Second World War. Reasons for Designation: Historic interest - as an eloquent witness to the tragic impact of world events on the local community, and the sacrifice it made in the conflicts of the C20; Architectural interest - an elegant obelisk in the Classical style; Group value - with the Grade I-listed Church of St Faith (B4).
