- BURIED SOIL HORIZON (Medieval - 1066 AD? to 1539 AD?)
Description
Evaluation trial trenching carried out by John Moore Heritage Services in April 2011 in advance of proposed building extensions identified a buiried soil layer 0.1m thick containing finds of medieval pottery and late prehistoric worked flints. The condition of the pottery suggests that the site had been ploughed in the late 11th century but that ploughing had ceased by the 12th century. See report for detail (B1).
NGR to Trench 2.
