Type and Period (2)

  • HOUSE (17th Century to 18th Century - 1600 AD? to 1799 AD?)
  • (Alternate Type) TIMBER FRAMED HOUSE (17th Century to 18th Century - 1600 AD? to 1799 AD?)

Description

Only number 2 of this row of cottages is listed, presumably because it is least altered and retains a thatched roof, which all appeared to have at the time of the 1910 Valuation Survey, when all were owned by Joseph Hill of the Red Lion and let to tenants. A brief internal inspection of number 1 shows it is timber-framed. A more thorough inspection of these houses would yield further dating information. They may all be of 17th or 18th century date.
