Description
Evaluation trial trenching carried out by John Moore Heritage Services in June 2011 identified medieval boundary ditches, probably property or field boundaries dated by 11th or 12th century pottery. A large quarry pit at least 13.6m by 6.4m and 0.6m deep was sealed by a 13th century buried soil and is interpreted as evidence of earlier Medieval extraction for whitchert. Four undated postholes from trench 5 at the west of the site may represent a former building. See report for detail (B1).
Excavations carried out in November 2013 by Thames Valley Archaeological Services
