ABBOTS ASTON HOUSE BELONGED TO THE ABBEY OF ST ALBANS. THE MITRED ABBOTS USED TO PASS THEIR LENT HERE, THERE BEING LARGE FISHPONDS TO SUPPORT THEIR TABLE (B1).
