Description
Plan Form - L shaped.
Grade II. L-plan range of 2 barns linked by lower 2-bay outbuilding. C18. Timber frame with weatherboard cladding, brick plinths. Thatch roofs, half-hipped except at N.E. end of E. barn. W. barn of 6 bays has 2 board doors and 4 small upper windows to yard, off-centre cart entry and 5 stable doors to rear. E. barn, probably of 4 bays, has 4 board doors, 3 small windows and a hayloft entry to yard, and off-centre cart entry to rear. Both barns have raking queen post trusses and curved windbraces (B8).
De-listed 12th March 1999.
Structural inspection of Mellor's Barn carried out in May 2007, prior to consideration for conversion to domestic use. Report includes description of state of the barn at that date with set of black and white photographs (B1).
