Description

FILLING FROM TRENCH AT NGR PRODUCED SKELETON. SITE NOW HOUSING ESTATE (B1).
SECTIONS OF HUMAN VERTEBRAE (B2).
SITE APPEARS ON MAP WITH OTHER NEARBY RB BURIALS (B3).
FURTHER HUMAN BONES: SKULL, LOWER JAW, ODD LOWER JAW & VERTEBRAE PRESUMED TO BE FROM THIS SITE (B6).




[NRHE 344174] Roman material was found while trench digging on a building site at RAF Halton in 1953. A limited rescue excavation by Bucks Co Museum at SP 88270996 recovered two 2nd c. pots (one complete) and c. 30 other sherds mostly of 1st c. coarse ware. Also three human vertebrae were found. No interpretation of the site was made. Acc Nos 12-16:53 (B7).
Area built over and no further finds reported. Surveyed at 1:2500 (B8).
[NRHE 344463] Two Roman Pots, fragments of other pots and sections of human vertebrae, from the RAF station at Halton, were presented to the Bucks County Museum in 1953, by the Secretary of State for Air. Acc Nos 12-16 1953 (B2).
Found at Aston Hill, Halton; shown on small-scale map at approximately (SP 885100) (B3).
