The site of a brickworks of post medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located approximately 600m south east of Marshill Farm, Great and Little Kimble cum Marsh, and centred at SP 81503 08547. The Ordnance Survey Epoch 1 map shows brick fields with kilns, buildings and a long clay pit, measuring approximately 42x130m at its largest. Aerial photographs from the 1940s show rough scrubland with no clear remains of any of the structures shown on the historic mapping although subrectangular cropmarks in 1946 could be the site of structures associated with the brickworks. By 1971 the clay pit has been enlarged and more buildings have been constructed, and bungalows are visible by 1994. The claypit has been enlarged to form a large pond and the ridge and furrow in the adjoining field to the east infilled. A trade directory from 1864-5 lists a brickmaker and farmer in Great and Little Kimblewick, D. Carter, and a site visit could see no sign of the brickworks in 1979. (5-11)
