SMALL QUANTITIES OF ROMAN POTTERY & OTHER FINDS ARE INSUFFICIENT TO SUGGEST DIRECT CONTINUITY OF OCCUPATION ON THIS SITE WITH THE SAXON SETTLEMENT. HOWEVER THE ROMAN EVIDENCE INDICATES THE EXISTENCE OF A ROMANO-BRITISH SETTLEMENT NEARBY; THE ROMAN FINDS PERHAPS DEPOSITED IN MANURE SCATTER (B1).
