A prehistoric site with many flint implements on a narrow neck of land on Kimble Farm (SU 7589) about mid-way between Fawley and South End, was discovered by E Peyton of Hambledon in May 1913 (B1).
A Mesolithic flint factory site in the Maglemosian tradition, including tranchet axes, blade tools and a fair microlithic element (B8).
The Kimble industry clearly belongs to the great group of transversely sharpened axe cum microlithic point industries of SE England (B2).
The farmer did not know the site of the floor and said that efforts in the past by various bodies to site it had been abortive. However, the farm is small and what little topographical evidence there is suggests the site lay in its SE corner in the vicinity of SU 757887 (B9).
