Description

Dimensions - Length 140m.
Plan Form - LINEAR.
Dam, ca. 2/3 of a mile SSW of the church, and East of Tingewick Woods. In 1913 a strong bank with a return at the South end, has been thrown across a small tributary of the R. Ouse. The bank is about 7 feet high and 100 yards long, and is now pierced for the passage of the stream (B1).
DAM MUCH DENUDED BY 1982; APPEARED AS A SLIGHT SWELLING EACH SIDE OF STREAM, WITH S RETURN SLIGHTLY MORE PROMINENT. RELATES TO FISHPONDS (B4).

SP66443197. This dam can be related to a number of New College documents of ca.1714-1853 referring to fishponds at Tingewick (B5).
