A grey flint tranchet of Maglemosean type was found some years ago at TQ 001881 just north of the Oxford road (A40) not far from the crossing with the A332 road to Slough (B1). LIGHTLY PATINATED, BEARING CHARACTERISTIC BASAL SCAR THAT DISTINGUISHES CUTTING EDGE OF THIS KIND OF AXE OR ADZE MADE BY MAGLEMOSEAN STYLE FLAKING. FOUND WITH A FEW FLINT ARTEFACTS INDUSTRIALLY ASSOCIABLE, BY MR J.G.MARSDEN MANY YEARS AGO. FURTHER DISCUSSION AND ILLUSTRATION (B1-2).
