Description
At TQ 014 880 SITE DISCOVERED DURING WORK IN ADVANCE OF CONSTRUCTION OF CHALFONT BY-PASS, A413, AS A SCATTER OF SURFACE FINDS IN TRIANGULAR FIELD S OF RAILWAY. 36 FLAKES COLLECTED, ONLY 1 IN BLADE CATEGORY. MAY BE ASSOC WITH ENCAMPMENTS OR SPORADIC FLINT QUARRYING IN GRAVEL FLOOR OF VALLEY. BARFIELD'S SITE V (B1).
A Mesolithic site excavated by L H Barfield in 1967, and sited from his plan (scale c.5"-1 mile) to TQ 01338805. Finds in Buckinghamshire County Museum (No accession number). Details are not available but an excavation report is pending. (See TQ 08 NW 9 for site plan) (B2).
Site lies under a new road; no further information (B3).
