Description

Grade II. Early C19. Yellow brick, hipped Welsh slated roof, wide eaves cornice. 2 storeys, 2 round headed lights to each of 2 windows. Central doorway with cambered arch. Included partly for historical interest as a former spa (B1).
In 1820 a chalybeate spring was discovered in Amersham Road. A group of local businessmen decided to exploit the spring as a spa. A building was erected alongside the spring (now known as Mineral Cottage) in 1821 where the water was to be dispensed and Mineral House [on the opposite side of Mineral Lane] was erected to provide accommodation for those coming to take the waters. A few years later the spring ran dry, effectively ending the venture (B2).
