Description

Geophysical surveys undertaken by Pre-Construct Geophysics in January and February 2009 identified a group of anomalies interpreted as a possible ditched rectangular enclosure approx 20m X 12m and aligned NW-SE, associated pit-like features and other ditches, possibly field boundaries near the NW corner of Field 1. See report for detail (B1).
Features identified during geophysics (B1) confirmed by evaluation. Frequent large unabraded pottery sherds recovered from within the ditches suggest settlement activity in the vicinity, perhaps inside the identified enclosure itself, although no evidence for this was found and may have been lost to ploughing (B2).
