Description

Find spot sited to TQ 0042 9007 from Barfield's plan in Buckinghamshire County Museum (Scale circa 5" to 1 mile). Finds in Museum (no acc no) (See TQ 08 NW 9 for site plan).FLINT SCATTER AT GERRARDS CROSS BUCKS BY L.H. BARFIELD.FLINT FLAKES PROBABLY NEOLITHIC (01:000) and ALSO CORES, found in 1966 by Mr L H Barfield during road works at TQ 005 900, Chalfont St Peter (02:000) MAP SUPPLIED BY DR BARFIELD SHOWS FI NDS AT NGR (TQ 004 901)AT SITE 4. a large scatter of flint flakes and three cores were found. The precise nature of the flint assemblage is uncertain since no tools were recovered. This may be associated with encampments or sporadic flint quarrying on the valley floor (B3).
