Description

1.5 storey rendered building with attached lower range. Positioned hard up to edge of road with steeply pitched tiled roof. Irregular fenestration pattern and strong solid to void ratio. Attractive building prominent in street scene. This is a local building of note within the Conservation Area of Haddenham. (B1).
The Building was used as a pub in the 19th and much of the 20th century. The 1st edition 25-inch OS map show it as 'The Queen's Head' and from 1900 until the 1980s the 6-inch OS maps show it as 'The Old Cider House' or 'The Cider House'. A historic photo of about 1900 in the County Museum's collection shows the building and attached ranges with thatched roofs, a pub sign outside and painted signboards on the south gable reading 'Ye Old Cider House, Watlington Ales & Stout' (B2).
Recorded in November 1872 Return of Licensed Public Houses and Beer Houses as having been open for over 50 years (B3).
