A polished flint axe was found c 1932 on a farm at Rush Green (TQ 02 85). The axe, a particularly good specimen. CUTTING EDGE 48MM TAPERING TO 24MM AT THE BUTT. EVENLY GROUND. CUTTING EDGE BROKEN OR BLUNTED AT SOME TIME & REGROUND & POLISHED: DIFFERENT PATINA & POLISH. OTHER AXES FROM AREA (IE HAREFIELD) INDICATE EXTENSIVE LATE NEOLITHIC POPULATION. FOUND BY C E VULLIAMY & GIVEN TO E C ROUSE (B1-3).
A polished flint axe with some original flake scars faintly discernible on one side has been found in Ruch Green, Denham, near the point where the Alderbourne joins the alluvium of the Colne valley. Several other axes have been found in this area particularly higher up the Colne valley just north of Denham (B4).


The polished flint axe resembles exactly that listed in the Bovingdon collection (TQ 09 SW 8), for which the findspot is not known (B5).
