19th century single storey building with painted render and modern windows. The roof is in slate with brick chimneys. The main door has an enclosed porch with date stone above, which projects from the main building frontage. This is a local building of note within the Conservation Area of Akeley (B1).
The school was erected in 1854, with a neat brick ediface, and about 60 boys and girls attended in 1862. The cost of the building, £180, was raised by private subscription (B2).
In 1856 a site including a building built in1854, called a house, was conveyed to the Rector and churchwardens from new College, Oxford, for a school and school house and a residence for a schoolmaster or misstress, for the poor persons of Akeley Parish (B3).
The school moved to a new building in around 1976 and this building was leased to the community and later became a private house (B4).
