Information on borough of Wendover in B1.
Wendover always answered for 24 hides. Land for 26 ploughs; in lordship 3 ploughs. 26 villagers with 6 smallholders have 17 ploughs; a further 6 possible. 2 mills at 10s; meadow for 3 ploughs; from the remainder, 20s; woodland, 2,000 pigs. In total value it pays £38 a year, assayed and weighed; before 1066 it paid £25 at face value. In this manor are 2 Freemen who hold 1 1/2 hides; they did not lie there before 1066.
Leofwin [of Nuneham] holds 1/2 hide in 'Wanden' from the King. Land for 1 plough; 1/2 there; [another] 1/2 possible. 1 smallholder. Woodland, 30 pigs, and it pays 10s. The value is and always was 10s. He also held before 1066; he could sell. Ralph put this land in Wendover; but it was not there before 1066.
In Wendover 3 men held 1 hide from the King. Land for 1 plough; it is there, with 1 smallholder. The value is and was 20s; before 1066, 40s. They held it themselves before 1066; they could sell. Now they are in the King's revenue in Wendover, where they were not before 1066 (B5).
