Description
Conservation Area designated in 1977 (B1).
Askett is first recorded in legal documents in about 1250, with other mentions in 1300 and 1541 (B2).
The hamlet of Askett was in the parish of Monks Risborough. At Askett there is a Baptist chapel built in 1839, with a small burial-ground attached. Master John Schorne is said to have been vicar here before he went to Long Marston, c. 1290 (B3).
'Ascott' and later 'Askett' is marked on OS maps from 1812 onwatds (B4).
