Description

The southernmost hamlet of Chartridge, Hyde Heath, extends into Missenden parish. The open range of country on the Chilterns changes here to wood and common. The cottages, with the Baptist chapel, mission room and Hyde Heath Farm, overlook Hyde Heath Common (B1).
A settlement at Hyde Heath (as opposed to the scattered farms and isolated cottages around the heath and common) is first marked on OS maps from about the late 1930s onwards, with building starting in earnest from the 1950s (B2).
