Description

Conservation Area designated in 1980 (B1).
The Lee is first mentioned in legal documents in 1181, then again in 1241, 1284 and 1537 (B2).
The village lies on a by-road, on three sides of a village green, on which is a large glacier-borne sandstone rock dug up in the neighbourhood, and erected on a pedestal by the present lord of the manor. The village contains a small number of picturesque houses, farms, and cottages (B3).
