Description

Slapton is first mentioned in Domesday Book, with later entries in legal documents in the 13th, and 15th centuries (B1).
The village, which is quite a small one, lies on the road in the north-east of the parish. It contains some 16th and 17th-century houses and cottages, which have been much modernized. The rectory and the church are in the extreme east, and there is a Wesleyan chapel here, built in 1817 (B2).
