Description

Watching brief carried out by John Moore Heritage Services in November 2009 during groundworks for a new outbuilding identified 3 large medieval pits, interpreted as indicating back-yard activities in the 13th century relating to a possible property fronting onto Townside, which were sealed by a cultivation soil probably also medieval in date. The site may have gone out of domestic use untill the late post-medieval period when two further pits were dug. See report for detail (B1).
