Description
Grade II. Chimney and boilerhouse. 1872, established by B. North for chair-making business. C20 extensions and alterations to boilerhouse. Chimney is of white brick with flush bands of red brick. Square plan with off-set plinth necking and cap. Boilerhouse is of red brick, raised to 2 storeys with parapet C20. 2 arched windows with cast iron glazing bars to engine room, small round window with cast iron tracery to right above boiler, C19 workshop ranges to right and C20 extensions to left are not of special interest. Boilerhouse contains boiler by Marshall's of c.1900, and steam engine of c.1901 by same firm, both still in working order. Engine originally also used to pump water supply for workers' houses in new hamlet. [Delisted 31st August 1988](B1).
