Description
Geophysical survey carried out in Winter 2007 by Chess Valley Archaeological and Historical Society identified a probable former palaeochannel, 3 roughly parallel straight ditches corresponding to current drainage ditches which extend into the adjacent field, and a double linear anomaly parallel to the existing course of the river Chess and presumably designed to control flooding. 3 roughly rectangular anomalies were interpreted as possible building foundations and sherds of Roman pottery and tile were found at one of these locations. Possibly ancilliary buildings associated with the known villa at Valley Farm [CAS 02340](B1).
