Description

Probable nineteenth century cast iron milepost recorded by P.N. Jarvis [Bletchley Archaeological and Historical Society] in January 1965 in Hillesden hamlet. Present on current OS map not on historic map. Before turning to Hillesden House. One of 12 on Buckingham to Brill road. Painted figures. Inscription: 'BUCKNGHAM 3 BRILL 12'. Mile posts Buckingham to Brill recorded by Max Davies. Not shown on 1835 1" OS map. Rusty but upright metal mile post, all letters painted: (Brill 13 Buck - 3). Illustration annotated: Metal mile posts on Buckingham to Brill road. No makers name. All similar design. [Mileage does not agree with B1]. (B2).
