Description

There is evidence for a medieval fair at Wooburn, held on the feast day of the Translation of Edward the King, which was held on the 20th June, plus two days after. The fair was granted by a charter dated 28th July 1459, by King henry VI to Alice Lovell, late the wife of William Lovell, knight, lady Deyncourt, daughter and heir of John Deyncourt, knight and her heir and assigns. The fair was to be held at the manor, and had been discontinued by the end of the 18th century (B1)
