Description

There is evidence for one medieval market at Denham. The market was granted by charter and was to be held on a Monday. The charter was dated 16th March 1227, and was granted by King Henry III to Henry de Capella. There was also a letter to the sheriff of Buckhinghamshire regarding the market dated 10th April 1227. there is also evidence for one medieval fair at Denham, to be held on the vigil, feast and morrow of the Nativity of Mary, which fell on the 8th September. This fair was granted in the same charter as the market, and was also mentioned in the letter to the sheriff of Buckingham (B1).
