Description

The market at Chalfont St Peter was granted by a letter close dated 23rd April 1229, by King Henry III to Ranulf Briton. An order was sent to the sheriff of Buckinghamshire to publicise the market and to cause it to be held. The fair at Chalfont St Peter was set up by the same letter close, with the same instructions to the sheriff. It was to be held on the vigil and feast of St Peter and St Paul; the feast falls on 29th June every year. Both were to be held at the manor (B1)
