Description
There is evidence for one market at Brill, which was held by prescriptive right by the lord of the manor. In an extent of the manor of Brill on 3rd August 1252, the market and fair were worth 36s. In 1314-17, receipts from the market are recorded.
There is evidence for a fair at Brill held by prescriptive right, and recorded as 'nundinas' on 3rd August 1252. In 1314-17, receipts from the fair of Peter ad Vincula on the 1st August are recorded. Presumably this was the same fair as recorded in 1252. There is evidence of a second fair at Brill, to be held on the vigil, feast and morrow of the Trans of Thomas the Martyr, which was held on the 7th July every year. The fair was granted by King Edward III to John de Moleyns on 30th May 1347, and was to be held at the manor (B1).
