Description

Church Farmhouse dates from the middle of the 17th century, originally of three bays and one and a half storeys with a thatched roof. About the end of the century, or maybe a little later , a fourth bay was added at the north end, which involved moving the earlier stairs in to a shallow staircase tower projecting from the east wall. In the 18th or 19th century a barn was constructed against the west wall. After the house was sold in the estate sale of 1924, the first floor was raised to full two-storey height with a shallower roof for slates. Possibly during this refurbishment, the southernmost bay of the original house was pulled down and the present brick gable erected (B1)
