Description

A substantial 3-bay dwelling house, originally timber framed, built probably in the later 16th or early 17th century, and apparently retaining its outbuildings in line. The unusual features of this building are (a) the existence of what might be interpreted as a fire bay between hall and parlour, and (b) a rear timber framed wing to the service bay, neither of which feature appears elsewhere in Akeley. These suggest the building is of a social status above the ordinary. As the name implies, the building was an inn trading uner the name of 'The Greyhound' until the 1960s (B1).
