  • HOUSE (17th Century to 18th Century - 1600 AD to 1799 AD)

Description

With an Indenture of 1739, The Chequers may well have been a single storey late 17th or early 18th century cottage, represented now only by a verge line preserved in the S gable and vestiges of wall plates. The position of the primary (but rebuilt) chimney also hints at an early date. There was a serious fire at the N end in the ?1960s (B1).
