Probable eighteenth to nineteenth century milestone on A40 at Piddington opposite Dashwood Arms PH. Stone pillar vertical dimensions not recorded. Chamfered top 15 1/2 by 16 inches deep with 2 inch diameter cuphole in top. At 45 degree angle to road. Incised and painted with black paint. North: Oxford 21 Tetsworth 9. West: London 33 Wycombe 4. Recorded as present on Milestones Society survey website in 2002 on A40 on Uxbridge to Stokenchurch route National ID number BU_LW33. On south side of Wycombe Road ' on wide grass verge on edge to road '. 39cm wide 40cm deep 76cm high. Inscription: left: Oxford 21 Tetsworth 9: right: London 33 Wycombe 4: back: ? old carving still visible and carved benchmark lower left. ' Lichen and moss '.
