Description

Probable eighteenth to nineteenth century 'cast iron' metal milepost part of 'gout route' missing in 1995 from A404 between Woodrow and Beaumond End at Penn Wood. Recorded on current OS map as milestone (B1).
Shown on 1814 OS Surveyor's draft drawings and on 1835 one-inch OS map (Bucks sheet 42). Inscription: Amersham 3 Wycombe 4. On High Wycombe, Hazelmere, Amersham (F3/F4) route. Recorded as not found. [Hatfield] Chenies to Henley - "Gout Track". Milestone number 4 on 1835 1" OS map. (B2).
