Description
Grade II. Garden wall. Dated 1810 with later repairs. Red brick in Flemish garden wall bond, with semicircular brick coping. Incorporates limestone block approx half-way inscribed 'This wall/ was Erected by/ The Marquis of/ Buckingham AD 1810. Wall runs from north corner of Manor House to bank of River Ouse, which forms east boundary of garden (B5).
Building recording carried out by John Moore Heritage Services in May 2008 identified remains of an earlier limestone wall underlying the brick wall. The brick wall showed evidence of a number of repairs and 2 phases of rebuilding. See report for detail (B6).
