  • CONTROL TOWER (Modern - 1942 AD to 1945 AD)

Description

World War II control tower surviving at centre of airfield complex, to south of NW-SE aligned runway. Photos show a two-storey building with large windows and balcony at first floor level on the north side and the flat roof with railings for use as an observation platform. The building appears to have been encased in iron or steel cladding, presumably in connection with the later use of the airfield as a rocket testing site (B7).
