Description
Formerly locally listed. A pair of similar but not identical, small brick houses built in the late 18th century and first shown on a town map of 1814. No 109 was a two-storey two-up and two-down house with alterations and extensions in the late 19th and 20th centuries. Possibly originally built for combined retail use and domestic accommodation, a shop front was added between about 1905 and 1910 and the premises became an undertakers' by 1928. A brick morgue and garage were added to the rear by 1934. See report for detailed description and analysis of building (B1).
