Description
Detailed borehole survey carried out in August 2006 by ArchaeoScape in advance of proposed flood alleviation works enabled a deposit model of the sub-surface sediments to be developed. Two Late Pleistocene (Devensian) shallow braided palaeochannels were identified aligned SW-NE eventually joining in the northern part of the survey area. Some evidence of Early Holocene tufa deposits (4 boreholes), laminated deposits (8 boreholes), waterlogged seeds (1 borehole) and charcoal (1 borehole) were recorded. See report for detail (B1).
NGR to palaeochannel confluence.
