Description

Grade II. Barn. Late C17-early C18 reusing earlier timbers; altered. Timber frame with weatherboard cladding on brick and flint plinth, plain tile roofs. 5 framed bays. Central gabled midstray having double board door with some old strap hinges. On right, probably late C19 added lean to under catslide roof, with door on left and right bay open-fronted with central column. Left bay has C19 stable-with-loft addition, gabled, 1 bay deep, with door to right return. Rear: wide central doorway with sliding doors. Interior: barn has raised large-scantling timbers including jowelled wall-posts and some long arched braces. Sole plate, staggered mid-rail, arched and straight braces, wall plate, wall studs, some old weatherboarding, collared queen-post roof trusses with clasped purlins, old rafters without ridge- piece curved wind braces; some C19 replacement framing. Inside lean-to is old manger with tethering rings (B1).
