Description
Four ditches and a post-hole were uncovered in archaeological evaluation of land at Wing Care Home in advance of the replacement of the building. Ditch 1 was tentatively dated to the Early Roman period, although only two sherds of pottery were discovered, and it may be the same feature as Ditch 2, which, along with Ditch 5, was dated to the medieval period (12th-14th centuries). Ditch 4 and post-hole 3 did not contain any dating evidence. Unclear whether any of these features is related to the possible Roman road that may run through the site, or whether it is related to nearby medieval features, such as Wing priory or the parish church (B1).
